Today I used Vista at work for the first time using it as an upgrade. It was painful to set up and still does not support all the hardware i.e audio drivers etc. but for the most part it seems to function well. I have yet to see testing under WiFi conditions and will report back as we progress. Talking about WiFi, there is still a lot of buzz about n for the office environment. The real question is what kind of n to install. I think as of today it's still too much of a challenge unless you have a small office. For schools and the carpeted floor office space it should still be a wait, and wait and wait. But when it comes it could change the landscape of any new installation or move.

My name is Gary Berzack I am the CTO of eTribeca, LLC. A number of people including staff, Vendors and Clients have asked me to put some thought sot Blog paper on what is happening in the Networking industry and WiFi. I have been in WiFi for about 10 years. Before it was called WiFi (For a while Called Wecca but that never took off ) or even 802.11. I have been involved in about 200 installations around the country and dealt with various business aspects of WiFi and WAN Design. So to my thoughts for today. I just say a cool product called a mimo signal booster by Xterasys. It seems to state that it can up convert a b/g radio to support n for less than a $100. If it works as stated it could help Schools and legacy locations in a number of ways. The best part if you are using say Cisco AP or LWAP if it does work is you can still keep the back end infrastructure not sure what it will do with Location services if it does give you distance. GoTo www.xterasys.com for more info. Let us know if you think we should carry it on our website and Engineering support. My hope is to write up on this blog as things come along and time permits. Lets hope we all can enjoy and gain from the eTribeca blog, All the best for now, Gary
